There have been many runs of the NR class by Austrains. SDS Models took the Austrains NR model and updated it to include a 21 pin decoder socket, with marker and ditch lights. At the same time, room was made in the fuel tank for a speaker.
Decoder installation:
First, the body and cab needs to be removed from the walkway. The handrails and detail parts are fragile so caution should be applied.
Speaker installation:
If access to the speaker is required, it is a simple matter of removing two screws from the underside the fuel tank and slipping the fuel tank off from the chassis.
In the example below, the factory 20x40mm oval speaker is replaced by a DCCSound premium sugarcube speaker specifically designed for the SDS NR model.
The speaker drivers face up in the model. The fuel tank is placed back into position and two screws to hold in place to the chassis refitted.
