Items required: ESU 58820/58823 LokSound 5 Micro DCC decoder DCCSound premium speaker for Austrains 41 class

The decoder is a relatively simple 8 pin plug-in approach, so this installation will focus on the task to fit the aftermarket speaker.
First, remove the coupler assemblies from each end. Then remove two screws from the underside of the chassis near the air tanks.
The body then slides off from the chassis.
Here, the 8 pin blanking plug may be removed and decoder plugged in.
Next, gently pull the fuel tank down off the chassis, which is a friction fit. Remove four small screws atop the fuel tank which provides access to the factory speaker.
Set aside the factory speaker and two plastic moldings situated above the factory speaker, which are no longer used.
Using some sharp flush cutting pliers, remove the four plastic bosses from inside the fuel tank.

Place the new speaker inside the fuel tank, which should be a slight friction fit, otherwise a small amount of glue may be required.
Next, thread the speaker wires up through the hole in the chassis and along the bottom of the motor. Undo four motor mount screws to route wires and refit once done.
Apply some double sided tape if necessary between the underside of the chassis and the speaker drive, about 8x8mm.
Apply some small squares (3x3mm each) of Kapton or PVC tape to the chassis above each speaker spring to prevent a possible short with the metal chassis.
Then connect these two wires to the two brown speaker wires from the decoder, using fine heatshrink.

The decoder and wires should be fixed into position, away from the body sides and any rotating parts.
The model is then reassembled by fitting the body to the chassis, fixing the two chassis screws in place along with the coupler assemblies.
